Joining us this month is an excellent way to introduce your learner to the concept of historical thinking. In this unit, children will gain an understanding of how life in the past was different from today.
What are we learning this month?
Through the month, they will learn about the various ways people lived in the past, how technology has changed, and how the world has evolved over time. They will also gain a better understanding of the cultural and economic changes that have taken place over time.
We will focus on stories that are relevant to the children and use a variety of hands-on learning experiences to keep their attention, such as crafts, songs, historical photos and games.
Ultimately, this unit is designed to get your young learners to think critically about the past, and to appreciate the advancements that have been made in the present. With guidance and creativity, we will make history fun and interesting for even the youngest students!
On Mondays, students will engage in meaningful math lessons and hands-on activities to deepen their mathematical understanding of patterns and positional words. Older students will become fluent in addition.
On Tuesdays, students will practice phonics rules, read theme-related texts, write or draw informative pieces, and develop comprehension strategies related to sequencing.
On Wednesdays, students will research and learn facts about individuals who have shaped a significant historical change in American culture.
